Mrs. McCarthy is a native of New York where she attended Carmel High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education (7-12) from Siena College where she was also the captain of her NCAA Div. 1 Field Hockey team. She obtained her Masters of Professional Studies in English Education (5-12) and a Masters of Professional Studies in Special Education (5-12) from Manhattanville College. Mrs. McCarthy spent two years teaching in New York while coaching field hockey as a head varsity coach for three years prior to arriving in Kentucky. In Louisville, she taught sixth grade Language Arts and Literature for one year as well as coached the local high school field hockey team to a state championship. Mrs. McCarthy taught seventh graders for two years at Richmond Hill Middle School (GA) while coaching soccer followed by one year teaching freshmen at the nationally ranked Columbus High School (GA) while coaching lacrosse! In Clarksville, TN, she taught three years of 8th grade English Language Arts at Richview Middle School while bringing the sports of field hockey and lacrosse to Middle, TN.

 

She is presently teaching 7th grade English Language Arts in the International Baccalaureate Programme at Richards Middle School in Columbus, Ga, where she continues to grow the sports of field hockey and lacrosse. She is also the Head Girls Soccer Coach, Assistant Boys Soccer Coach, Instagram Club Advisor, and Go2Teach- Teacher Cadet Program Sponsor. Mrs. McCarthy loves to read, play field hockey, run and spend time outdoors. Mrs. McCarthy is married to Ret. Major Connor P. McCarthy, a graduate of the United States Military Academy and current Principal Operations Lead of the Midwest Region with Chick-fil-A. Together they have one daughter Emilia, and two German Shorthaired Pointers, Ruger and Jack!
